mvBase 2.1 for the Windows Platform


Raining Data is pleased to announce the general availability of mvBase 2.1.0. This version of mvBase is the result of a collaborative effort between our Software Maintenance Agreement (SMA) customers and Raining Data 's Product Development, Customer Service and Quality Assurance teams. After extensive development, you will be pleased to learn that mvBase 2.1.0 supports the new Microsoft Vista operating system and encompasses significant new features, enhancements and fixes, creating the most robust version of this product.
mvBase 2.1.0 offers overall improvements in performance and functionality to its prior releases. Key areas positively impacted with this release include:

Microsoft Vista: Certified on the Microsoft Vista operating system.

Installs and Operates on Windows 64-bit Operating Systems:
Runs as a 32-bit application on 64-bit versions of Windows XP, Windows 2003 and Vista operating systems. Support for these operating systems includes versions running on Intel's EM64T and Advanced Micro's AMD64 processors, with the exception being the Itanium processor. Target directory and registry tree redirection is automatically handled by the operating system–thus providing a seamless installation.

Database Management: Enhanced overflow table management reduces contiguous block fragmentation. Increased memory addressability now allows Virtual Address space up to 3GB (4GB on x64).

Object Code Management: BASIC program compile time and date improves object code management.

Interoperability and Connectivity: Engineered to support the upcoming release of FlashCONNECT 3.8. Enhanced client connection between mvTerm and Windows XP.

Error Logging: Enhanced tracing capability to control log file size. Added time and date to trace log.

Power Fail Procedure Enhancement: Improved power fail handling by performing an orderly shutdown from within the virtual environment.

Transaction Logging and Data Storage: Streamlined recovery from interrupted Transaction Log Restore. Support for USB tape devices has been added.

DST Compliance: mvBase time and date obtained directly from host operating system making mvBase Daylight Savings Time compliant.

System Administration: Added SYSID command to show system feature information. Added the USYSTEM(206) function to obtain client information.
