Allegany College of Maryland Chooses Datatel for Combined Student and Institutional Advancement Solution

Datatel , Inc. today announced that Allegany College of Maryland has selected Datatel to create a Strategic Academic Enterprise(tm) that will consolidate administrative and fundraising functions within a single solution. The College has licensed Datatel Colleague®, which will replace a homegrown administration system, and Colleague Advancement™, which will replace The Raiser's Edge® fundraising solution currently in use. The decision to partner with Datatel was made after a two-year evaluation of competitive products.

"We chose Colleague and Colleague Advancement because the value versus cost was unrivaled," said Tim Pelesky, associate dean of Information Technology at Allegany College of Maryland. "We liked that Colleague is designed specifically for higher education and has everything we need in one integrated solution. Datatel also has a solid track record with community colleges in Maryland, which is important to us because of our close collaboration with other two-year colleges within the state."

Datatel Colleague is specifically designed to manage and improve departmental workflows, business processes, productivity, and efficiency across the institution. Colleague Advancement empowers institutional advancement professionals and alumni officers to effectively manage campaign goals and donor information while maximizing the benefits of their relationships with constituents.

"With our legacy homegrown system, we spent much of our time developing the system's architecture. Now, with Colleague and Colleague Advancement, we'll be able to develop within the system using tools and templates that rely on business rules," said Pelesky.

The College will also strengthen its community by allowing constituents to access campus-wide information and resources using Datatel 's ActiveCampus® Portal, a Web-based workgroup collaboration and social networking system. Built on Microsoft SharePoint® technology, ActiveCampus Portal provides a single point of access across the Strategic Academic Enterprise.

Datatel 's Strategic Academic Enterprise is a holistic approach that focuses on and supports five cross-functional domains that are essential for achieving institutional and student success: Strategic Enrollment Management, Strategic Planning, Institutional Advancement and Marketing, Teaching and Learning, and Performance and Operational Management. The Strategic Academic Enterprise extends traditional enterprise resource planning (ERP) models by viewing administrative and academic functions as vital interdependent business processes across the higher education environment.
