XAML is used extensively in the .NET Framework 3.0 technologies, particularly in Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) — where it is used as a user interface mark up language to define UI elements, data binding, event handling, and other features — and in Windows Workflow Foundation (WF), in which workflows themselves can be defined using XAML.

In this session we will use VB.NET to provide a knowledge of the concepts of Object Oriented Programming from the perspective of the multivalue programmer. jBASE 5 Release 5 brings MultiValue users closer to the mainstream than ever before. Many of the features which are standard within DB2 and Oracle systems are now standard to jBASE. With the addition of warmstart recovery and resilient files, the jBASE database can be configured to automatically detect an abnormal shutdown and run a full integrity check applying any transactions that should be there and rolling back any transactions which did not complete. The resilient files are designed in such a way that integrity is kept both before and after every write so with a journaled operating system, there is no way for the files to become corrupted. This coupled with the fact that you no longer need to take the system down to backup or restore means that your systems can truly be available 24/7 on a jBASE platform. The performance of multi-value data bases is highly dependent upon Disk I/O. Indeed, many MV machines run with a CPU utilization of only 2% to 10%. Using modern Flash Solid State Disks, it is possible to increase your existing Disk IO performance up by a factor of fifty, often at nominal cost. Similarly, it is now possible to run MV databases on USB sticks typically ten times faster than fast hard disks. While this class covers EasyCo's Managed Flash Technology (MFT), it also will cover other solutions you can buy off the shelf. Some of these increase server performance 20 to 30 fold at a cost less than a night in a hotel.
