anounces the release of Service Pack 3 for D3/NT 7.5. There
are many improvements to D3/NT
File System Integrity
The FCB used to be a memory structure that was written out to
disk at certain
intervals. It is now held in a memory mapped file. Consequently,
file opens will use
additional handles. This improves the integrity of the FCB
because, even if the D3
process should crash, the O/S will still flush it out.
ODBC Server
In D3 NT 7.4, the D3 VME server (d3vme.exe) and the D3 ODBC
server
(d3odbcsrv.exe) were separate processes. Effective in D3 NT 7.5,
the D3 ODBC
server and the D3 VME server functionality are merged. The file
name is d3vme.exe.
Debugging is supported with the use of the ODBC Connections
settings in the D3
Device Manager and the new TCL nt_restart-odbc command.
VB Class Library
- Replaced the RPC class library with the D3 Class Library that
includes the RPC
and ODBC libraries.
- Implemented a more efficient VB-FSI layer.
