Problem:
The UniVerse
command SUSPEND.FILES ON causes SB
+ GUI screens to freeze. If a record is attempted to be read in any GUI screen, the hourglass appears and will not go away.
The only method of escape at this point is to "switch to terminal mode" (click on the icon in the upper left corner of the SBClient window), then switch back to GUI mode, perhaps repeating these steps several times.
Solution:
A workaround would be to use the OS level command "uv -admin -L", which is the equivalent of "SUSPEND.FILES ON" but without the nasty side effect of locking your SB
+ screens when run in GUI mode.
"uv -admin -U" is the equivalent of "SUSPEND.FILES OFF".
