TigerLogic Corporation has announced the availability of service pack 2 for D3 Windows 9.0. Service Pack 2 includes many updates and fixes.
Access
- ACCESS now supports utilizing indexes when using the >, >=, <, <= and # operators.
- Enhanced virtual support for FSI numeric indexes, especially when using the > or < operators in selection criteria.
- Implemented the "eval", "conv", and "fmt" AQL modifiers.
Administration Console
- Added a new graphical application that allows Administrators to perform D3 administration.
APIs
- MVSP .NET API
- MVSP Java API
Editor
- Added the ability to set an item lock from the Editor using the new "i" option with the "ed" command or by adding an "i" in attribute 3 of the "ed" command definition.
FSI Hot-Backup
- Added the ability to replicate FSI data to another D3 Windows system.
Indexes
- Implemented numeric indexes in the VME. Note that for numeric indexes to work properly, numeric data must be stored in scaled internal format (that is, with no decimal or thousands separators {-} n {n...}). This ensures correct behavior when accessing numeric indexes.
- Enhanced list-index to return whether an index is numeric. D3 Windows 9.0 Release Notes
- Enhanced verify-index to properly verify numeric indexes.
- Enhanced the verification of indexes on D3 Windows to stop after a specified number of errors has been reached and move onto the next index or file.
- Enhanced the index management commands to allow an ADI to be specified as the reference to the index.
IPv6
OSFI
-
Added the OSFI "binx" driver which allows reading, manipulating, and writing D3 binary items. This allows processes such as BASIC to read using the binx driver, returning a hexadecimal string of characters, which can then be modified and written back to the file.
Overflow Handler
- Added the ability to set runaway limits for individual pibs with the new L-option on the set-runaway-limit command.
Windows Authentication
- The security of the D3 system has been enhanced by allowing the use of usernames and passwords that are defined in Windows. This includes the security features of user accounts in Windows.
Since the Windows security features are controlling the accounts and passwords when Windows Authentication is enabled, the system can now be configured to set user or account properties through the Windows User Manager or Account Policy Editor. Features such as setting a password to expire after a certain time period, locking out a user after a specified number of failed attempts or setting account lockout periods are all available to the system. Please refer to the documentation for your particular Windows platform for more information.
Windows only Printers
- Windows only printers are supported.

About D3
The D3 DBMS embodies the best and most desired features for developers and users. It is simple in its structure but allows for complex definitions of data structures and program logic. The built-in development environment allows applications to be rapidly prototyped, developed, and modified on the spot. Custom applications and on-site enhancements are common in the D3 community. Everything required for development is already in D3, making D3 much more than a typical database environment. Site administration requires a fraction of the staff of other environments of the same size - a large proportion of sites running D3 do not have an IT staff.
D3 is developed and supported over the many environments indicated on these pages. All code and data easily migrates between environments without modification, so both developers and users can work on their platforms of choice.
Other products from TigerLogic include connectivity tools like FlashCONNECT for web, the D3 Class Libraries, the Open Systems File Interface for Oracle and other environments, and XML technologies to exchange data with other XML-compliant programs or environments.
