Practical examples of cURL from the Pavuk API will be shown and explained in performing tasks such as IP address database lookup, credit card transactions, electronic medical claims communication and automated email. The emphasis will be on the use of cURL in the backend of the application for ease of programming and enhanced security. Source code examples will be provided and explained.

Tablets, Phones, Smart Home Panels… Android Development will take you into the future. This session will provide you information on what software you need and what steps you will need to develop for these systems and hardware.

In this session, we will discuss the use of Xen virtual servers for MV systems and their uses for cloud computing as well as green-screen. The economics of bandwidth and hosting will be discussed as applied to a business model compared to traditional, in-house systems. A live exercise of setting up a Linux server with www.Linode.com and the installation of OpenQM and other packages will be conducted. Administration through Webmin and Linode administration will be discussed. At the end of this session, attendees should have an understanding of using virtual server systems to meet their business needs.

.NET has become the defacto new development environment for most enterprises. Developing .NET applications are relatively easy, but developing a .NET application to use a database effectively requires knowledge and planning.

Interfacing .NET effectively with a database requires developers to split much of the process between the database and the client. In this workshop, we will talk about how to design effective client/server/database interfaces using a MultiValue database.

As a .NET programmer, working with a MultiValue Database doesn't always seem to conform to how you think it should be done. Surprising enough, MultiValue Database structure and interfaces fit the .NET object models better than traditional database.

In this session, Bob will demonstrate on how you can report on your MV data without converting your data, or learning a new language. If you can follow a wizard, or if you want to program in Basic, you can make impressive reports and graphs quickly, and easily.

This session will re-introduce Pavuk IDF with a focus on applications that have been developed with it and its practical uses. The session consists of two parts: lecture and training followed by a practicum where attendees will be logging in to the Pavuk Cloud server and building prototype applications on their own with aid from the instructor. At the end of the session, attendees should have a grasp of the power of this technology and how they can put it to immediate use to expand their business opportunities. The discussion of theory will be kept to the minimum necessary to achieve the objectives of the session.

Walk away with a full set of examples on how to implement .NET with your MultiValue database. Much of the session will be focused on MultiValue Basic programs and how best to implement the interfaces to .NET.

XAML is used extensively in the .NET Framework 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0 technologies, particularly in Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) - where it is used as a user interface mark up language to define UI elements, data binding, event handling, and other features - and in Windows Workflow Foundation (WF), in which workflows themselves can be defined using XAML.

You hate java, or think it is too complex to work with, lets look again. The JSP Standard Template Library (JSTL) is a very new component released by Sun for JSP programming. JSTL allows you to program your JSP pages using tags, rather than the scriptlet code that most JSP programmers are already accustomed to. JSTL can do nearly everything that regular JSP scriptlet code can do.

This session will examine JAVA, JSP, and JSTL, and take you through the basics of JSTL using Tomcat to publish MultiValue business data.

In this session, Mike Ruane will demonstrate how an MV developer can use O4W – OpenInsight for Web – as an affordable, fast, and easy way to create powerful, usable data entry form for use in browsers. And, this can be accomplished just by following through a wizard, or if you'd like, add in some Basic code.

From problem reporting and project management through change control and deployment with rollback, PRC can increase productivity while meeting your compliance requirements. PRC works within the MultiValue environment to automate change control and deployment while enforcing security and protecting the integrity of software and data. With PRC in place a company can move ahead with in-house development without restricting their ability to take vendor upgrades.

Never lose work, step on each others' work, or make a mess that you have to fix in live under the gun again. Whether a company wants to provide tracking and robust tools for programmer convenience or must take it all the way through to compliance, PRC meets the needs of the developers (even specifically the “Pickie” type of developer who is used to moving quickly and freely) and of management (even the accounting/auditor type of management who recoils at fast and free development) easily and conveniently from within the familiar environment.

Fastbac is a utility that prepares an Rocket U2 database for backup with minimal interruption to the users of the database - typically a few seconds at most. It currently requires that the database is a recent version of U2 running on a recent version of AIX. Sites that are accustomed to having users logged out of the database during a backup no longer have that requirement! This is an incredible benefit to sites operational 24/7, sites with a very small backup window, and sites where remote or internet database access is offered around-the-clock.

Fastbac utilizes functionality built into recent U2 database products and AIX to temporarily suspend database writes while a 'picture' of the database is taken. This entire process typically consumes less than 60 seconds to complete; some sites are experiencing periods of no more than 5 seconds of being unable to write to the database, which most users don't notice. This 'picture' can then be used to complete a backup to tape without interfering with the current users of the database, and/or to duplicate the database to another set of disks connected to this or another system with sufficient disk space to maintain electronic copies of the database.

Refactoring is a disciplined technique for restructuring an existing body of code and altering its internal structure without changing its external behavior. Its heart is a series of small behavior preserving transformations. Each transformation (called a 'refactoring') does little, but a sequence of transformations can produce a significant restructuring, reducing the chances that a system can get seriously broken during the restructuring.

In Mexico, the government passed a new law that required all invoices to be submitted to them in order to address a problem with tax evasion. The government required that all invoices to be supplied in a XML format. IN additional to each invoice being supplied, a monthly summary was also required.

This session will delve deeper into development of a Native iPhone application including how to access multivalue data from your iPhone app. This session will include the development of an application that demonstrates a native iPhone application.

Excel is a popular media to review and work with MultiValue Data. It provide an easy way to provide formated output, and data mining using pivot tables. Majority of all end users out there have access to Excel, and use it to some degree or another.

In this session we will show you how to extract MultiValue data and import it into Excel using subroutine calls. We'll talk about how to add data to individual cells, as well as do bulk updates of cells and rows.

This session will show you how to create word document on the fly by mixing templates and data from your MultiValue database. This is a web application you can use to create any type of word document.

In this session we will explore the PDFtk - the PDF tool kit. This powerful utility has been called "The Swiss Army Knife" for PDF documents. The focus will be on creating documents and merging data to produce output that is both pleasing to the user and which overcomes the problems with "printer friendly" web forms. Attendees will learn the basics of creating FDF files in BASIC and using PDFtk to merge the data into forms created in Acrobat Pro. A demonstration of importing a scanned document and creating a merge document will also be covered.

There are a lot of different tools, processes, and development environments that generate web pages. You even have web pages that generate web pages. As the internet and web design has gotten more sophisticated, generate web pages have actually gotten easier and many ways of generating them have gotten overlooked.

This session will talk about the different ways web pages can be generated using dynamic and semi-dynamic processes. This session will cover how to refresh web pages when the data in the database changes, and not always when the page is accessed.
