FREE Hands-On DesignBAIS Training After Cincinnati Specturm Conference

DesignBais International will be hosting a FREE one day training session on September 27th to coincide with the Cincinnati Spectrum and as part of it's unveiling of DesignBais, Release 4.1.

"Release 4.1 provides yet another major leap forward for developers and end-users" explains Rick Weiser, VP of Client Services.

"Application Security is a big issue, and Release 4.1 delivers some exceptional solutions. We've also improved scalability, performance and resilience. We've made development and conversion easier. Release 4.1 now supports all major multi-value database vendors, providing greater flexibility in your development and deployment models. We believe that this helps to future-proof your application."

This training will provide a detailed view of development techniques, show what others have achieved using DesignBais and examine Release 4.1 features. Space for this training is extremely limited, so send your request to rickw@designbais.com as soon as possible.

This is one training that the serious multi-value developer should not miss out on.

SAPUG User Group Meeting: Sept 21st

Please join SAPUG next Thursday, Sept 21st for afternoon and evening sessions with:

Michael Hannigan, Business Intelligence Product Manager for Via Systems, Inc. has vast experience with project management and database design, he served as the ADDS/NCR technical representative on the Spectrum Manufactures Association and was the winner of the 1992 Rod Burns Award (IDBMA Spectrum Rod Burns Award. In memory of Rod Burns, the Rod Burns award for Outstanding Technical Achievement is given to one individual who has made exceptional technical contributions to the Pick industry. Nominated by end users, the one winner is chosen from a field of four finalists.) at the International Spectrum's Computer Show.

Afternoon Session:
Mr. Hannigan will discuss how best to handle the seemingly daunting tasks associated with implementation and deployment of business and sales intelligence in your company. In his discussion Mike will break down the subject into a series of meaningful tasks and discusses the technology that drives BI/SI. Learn how best practice deployment will smooth the way to a successful installation.

Evening Session:
Via Systems introduces myViewpoint, a business intelligence and sales intelligence tool designed specifically for the MultiValue marketplace. Providing similar functionality to Cognos, Crystal Reports, and other mainstream tools, myViewpoint's graphical wizards make query generation a snap...and unlike the mainstream products, no conversion from MultiValue (or cumbersome middleware translations) are required. Once defined, the queries can be deployed to desktops or through the browser to the organization, and myViewpoint's alerts and constraints system will provide an at-a-glance picture of your business.

Webinar: Announcing MITS Report, the Revolutionary New Operational Reporting Environment from MITS

Don't miss the September 19 webinar introducing MITS Report, the new software environment for MultiValue operational reporting. Space is limited, so Regist er Today!

MITS president Fred Owen will describe the inspiration for MITS Report, which was developed to address the challenges customers were facing in reporting for MultiValue databases. Fred will focus on the three major goals for MITS Report:

  • Easy-to-use interface
  • Fast data access
  • Secure data

Fred will then explain how MITS achieved these goals for MITS Report by creating a unique "Report Source" architecture.

Next, Gary Owen, Director of Software Engineering at MITS, will give a live demonstration of MITS Report, leading you through the key features in MITS Report. Watch the rapid response of MITS Report as Gary shows how the innovative Report Source architecture makes it easy to:

  • Create new reports
  • Modify existing reports
  • Access and manage existing reports

  Tech Tip!

Suppose your data has a series of attributes that correspond to - say - lines on an order, or lines on a call log, or maybe lines on a time sheet. You want to display the line number beside the other data.

"LINE" will do the trick assuming that attribute 1 is part of that data.

LINE
001 S
002 0
003 Line
008 F;1;NV
009 R
010 2

If you just need a count of the "lines" referenced by the multi-value data in attribute 1, then "CTR" will do that for you. The assumption is that there are no null elements in attribute 1.

CTR
001 S
002 0
003 Count
008 F;1;C;#;S
009 R
010 7
