DesignBais International will be hosting a FREE one day training session on September 27th to coincide with the Cincinnati Spectrum and as part of it's unveiling of DesignBais, Release 4.1. "Release 4.1 provides yet another major leap forward for developers and end-users" explains Rick Weiser, VP of Client Services. "Application Security is a big issue, and Release 4.1 delivers some exceptional solutions. We've also improved scalability, performance and resilience. We've made development and conversion easier. Release 4.1 now supports all major multi-value database vendors, providing greater flexibility in your development and deployment models. We believe that this helps to future-proof your application." This training will provide a detailed view of development techniques, show what others have achieved using DesignBais and examine Release 4.1 features. Space for this training is extremely limited, so send your request to rickw@designbais.com as soon as possible. This is one training that the serious multi-value developer should not miss out on.

Suppose your data has a series of attributes that correspond to - say - lines on an order, or lines on a call log, or maybe lines on a time sheet. You want to display the line number beside the other data. "LINE" will do the trick assuming that attribute 1 is part of that data. LINE 001 S 002 0 003 Line 008 F;1;NV 009 R 010 2 If you just need a count of the "lines" referenced by the multi-value data in attribute 1, then "CTR" will do that for you. The assumption is that there are no null elements in attribute 1. CTR 001 S 002 0 003 Count 008 F;1;C;#;S 009 R 010 7 This Tips was derived from Tom Phillips.
